Last summer I got to hear Anandagiri from the Oneness University in India speak in LA. He is such a beautiful person and when he speaks it is not coming from his mind. His message from the Oneness University, Marie Forleo's from the Booty Camp I am doing, Eckhart Tolle's, Byron Katie's and Arial & Shya Kane's are all the same: that we are not our minds and that real happiness & joy is in the present.
The planet is ready for this material!
You are not your mind or the thoughts that appear in your mind. You are the listener or awareness behind the thoughts. Thoughts are a tape-loop that is not you, not accurate and are rarely kind.
Past and future are mental concepts. Life is NOW!
Anandagiri says,
If we contemplate for a moment we will see that real happiness & joy is found only in the present, but constantly we keep ourselves busy doing things for acquiring happiness & peace in the future. We are running after a moving train which we can never catch.
And I love what Marie Forleo said about the past. You can only be as you are in any given moment, so guilt, shame & regret are a waste of time. "If only"...(we had gone to a different school, had a different mother, etc.) She calls it "having tea with the smurfs". I love that!
Anandagiri says that "Freedom is not in transforming the content. Freedom is in seeing the content as it is. Seeing the mind, the emotions, and the thoughts as they are. Nothing changes and yet there is joy and freedom."
I love this quote from Ariel & Shya Kane's book, "Working On Yourself Doesn't Work":
Heaven on Earth is happening simultaneously with the way our lives are showing up, right now in this moment.
Life is now... and this is it! We are either fully engaged and experiencing each moment or we are checked out - analyzing, interpreting, coloring reality with the mind's views.
I am so excited by all of this! The mind cannot understand it, it is experiential, and awareness alone is enough to shift things.
